YahooOne of China’s top movie directors has admitted having three children with his current wife, according to a studio media posting, apologising after months of speculation he broke the country’s controversial family planning laws.

Zhang Yimou, the maker of “Raise the Red Lantern” and “Red Sorghum”, has two sons and a daughter with his current wife, the Yimou Studio said in its verified account on Sina Weibo, a Chinese equivalent of Twitter.

That would mean Zhang, 62, has a total of four children including a daughter with his ex-wife, potentially violating China’s one child policy.

Zhang “would like to make a sincere apology to the public for the negative ramifications caused”, said the posting by Yimou Studio, which says it is affiliated to the director.

China really is a wacky place huh? Months of speculation about whether or not one of their people might have more than one child.  A studio this guy is only affiliated with issuing apologies to the public on his behalf.  Listen, I know we look at the nonsensical shit that gets headlines here like “Doesn’t Kourtney Look Adorable Without Makeup” or “Will You Save Money With Obamacare?” etc…but China is doing it large with their media fascinations.  Just an entirely different set of values over there.  Oh and…

Zhang, 62, has a total of four children including a daughter with his ex-wife, potentially violating China’s one child policy.

I am so confused by that sentence…the word potentially shouldn’t be there right?  Because if I’m taking the term “one child” to mean one child then I’d say Zhang passed that turn a while back.  In any case I wouldn’t want to be Zhang Yimou right now because lets face it, this is China, punishment for having more than one child is probably life imprisonment…oh wait I didn’t read closely enough..”including a daughter”…he’s dead.
