It’s A Sad And Dangerous Day

Aint-it-cool-news   It’s official. No reprieve via NBC. The current season will be the last for “24.”  Its finale will run on an easy-to-remember date, May 24.  “We couldn’t come up with something that really satisfied us,” is how showrunner Howard Gordon describes to The Hollywood Reporter’s James Hibberd the never-to-be ninth season. “We’ve done everything we feel we can do with that character in this format.”

Pretty sure this will be remembered as the moment in time that pushed Keifer Sutherland over the edge.  The guy can’t stay out of jail when he’s working, what’s he going to do now that he has free time?  There is zero chance he doesn’t become some kind of criminal mastermind…he’s been doing 24 for so long he’s going to start to have flashbacks like Vietnam vets.  Dude is going to wake up screaming one night thinking there are terrorists in his room with sarin gas.  He’ll get angry, then run into the Hollywood hills and begin picking off joggers one by one.  The cops will go in after him but they’ll all be killed by rudimentary spike traps and trip wires.  The national guard will be called in but they’ll come up empty as well because at that point Keifer will have gone into ghost mode…hiding in shadows and disappearing in the blink of an eye.  Once the army gets involved people will assume it’s only a matter of time before Keifer is caught, however the army is just bringing more powerful weapons into Keifer’s environment.  He’ll snap the neck of some private named Ricky and get his hands on an M-16, he will use that to get control of an APC, with that he’ll gain access to an army base, from there he’ll hijack an F-22, he’ll fly to NORAD and kill his way into the missile control room, then he’ll single-handedly launch every nuke we have and the world will end in a nuclear apocalypse like you read about.  All because Fox is out of ideas for Jack Bauer…for christ sake just throw him in Afghanistan with a pistol…shit will write itself and save the world.
