Yanks Close To Acquiring Curtis Granderson

ESPN  The New York Yankees, Arizona Diamondbacks and Detroit Tigers are on the verge of the first major trade of baseball’s winter meetings, a deal that would send Tigers outfielder Curtis Granderson to New York, sources told ESPN The Magazine’s Buster Olney.  In the trade, the Diamondbacks would obtain Edwin Jackson and Ian Kennedy, while the Tigers will pick up Max Scherzer, Phil Coke and outfield prospect Austin Jackson.

So let me get this straight, we get to get rid of Ian Kennedy and get Curtis Granderson without giving up Phil Hughes or Joba Chamberlain??  Umm yes please get this deal done Cashman!  Losing Coke might hurt unless Marte can pitch like he did in the World Series the entire season and I know people are high on Austin Jackson but we’d be lucky if Jackson is ever the player that Granderson IS.  Dude is a stud…here are his career numbers…

.272 avg  .344 OB% .484 slugging .828 OPS

He’s 28 and hit 30 home runs last year.  The guy is a defensive stud, he can steal bases…he will be a great center fielder for the Yanks for a decade if this deal happens…lets hope the details I have are correct because Kennedy, Coke, and AJax for Granderson is a fucking steal.  If the Yanks pull this off you can expect title #28 next year.

this isnt a steal because losing austin jackson who could be a stud is a big deal.. also granderson is a downtick.. for some reason he was fucking terrible in center field.. dropping routine fly balls to a point where he almost got bench.. he has serious pop and adds great speed to this team.. happy we got him because hes still on 29.. but losing a top pick is risky

yeah losing Austin Jackson’s 4 hrs from last year in AAA is a tough pill to swallow…AJax wasn’t even a good minor leaguer…Granderson has proven he can do it in the majors, yeah his average slipped last season because people were pitching around him…can’t do that when he’s batting 9th for us…also I’m going to go out on a limb and say Austin Jackson will never be a great ML player…I’ll trade prospects for proven talent any day of the week

as much as losing ajax isnt good, we get an all star with a good arm, speed, and can hit for power if he needs to. Now we can get rid of damon (or have to really). Plus, coke will be replaced easily and isn’t a big deal.
