And So It Begins…

aws

It’s been a long season for The Yankees.  Even before the first spring training pitch was thrown it felt like the pressure was on to get back to The World Series.  The minute the talks of acquiring C.C. Sabathia and A.J. Burnett started heating up the expectations spiked through the stratosphere.  Then when the Yankees snuck in and pulled Mark Teixeira away from the Red Sox the only result for this season was a 27th title.  Well they have passed all the tests so far, but the biggest one remains, The Philadelphia Phillies…the defending champs.  Now when the Phillies won last season, lets just say beating The Rays isn’t very impressive.  I liken that title to the Red Sox running into The Cardinals and Rockies in their two wins, and the Yanks beating San Diego in 98 (even though nobody was beating the Yanks that year), those wins were easy and expected.  Well this series is about as good of a matchup as you can get.  This winner will have earned it by beating the best team.  As a Yankee fan the only way I want to get back to the top of the mountain is by dethroning the champs, just like we did in 96 with the Braves.

So it all starts tonight with Cliff Lee against C.C. Sabathia.  That’s an all-time great matchup for a World Series game and it shouldn’t disappoint.  Both teams have all-star lineups, the emergence of Jason Werth has added a dynamic offensive threat for Philly, and the Yanks are still waiting for Tex to hit like Tex.  The Yankees definitely have the edge in pitching, I’m not sold on Pedro being effective against an offense like the Yankees.  A.J. can throw a gem or implode for an inning like he did in game 5 of the ALCS.  If C.C. wins his starts then I don’t see the Yanks losing, it’ll be interesting how the bats do in these two hitters parks…gonna be a hell of a series.

Ok it’s prediction time…I hit the ALCS right on the money with Yanks in 6 and I’m going to go one better here…now that the Yankees are back they are not going to falter, you’re going to see the Yankees play better in this series than they have all season…Yanks in 5…now play that shit!!!

P.S. It looks like the greatest owner in pro sports is going to be in attendance tonight…gotta win this for G.M.S.

Hmmm… Letting the Rays dominate the AL East last year doesn’t impress me much either.

But, lets look forward, not back.
